Christmas Tree Auction Is Dazzling Event

OAKHURST – This year’s premiere holiday event, benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst and other local charities, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 7, in Pines Resort Lake View Room.

The Club’s Christmas Tree Auction has become a holiday tradition for the Mountain Area. Abundant silent auction items are offered in addition to raffles, a door prize and great food.

The highly anticipated live auction of hand-decorated full-sized trees, table top trees, and wreaths that are displayed throughout the room create a truly magical feeling.

The most unique aspect of this event is the number of groups involved, and the charities that benefit from it. Each of the live auction items are created by a different organization or business. The Boys & Girls Club receives a minimum of 25% of the winning bid and the contributing organization’s choice of charity receives the remainder. Some groups allocate 100% of their item’s purchase amount to the Club.

Christmas Tree AuctionIn addition to the Boys & Girls Club, other beneficiaries will include Oakhurst Sierra Rotary Club, Children’s Museum of the Sierra, Helping Hands, Mountain Bear Fan Club, Coarsegold School, Rivergold School, Wild Wonderful Women Scholarship Fund, Soroptimist International of the Sierras, Yosemite High School Scholarship Fund, Oakhurst Mountain Lions Club, Sierra Lions Club, Sierra Senior Center, Helping One Woman (H.O.W.), 49-Ears Scholarship Fund, Relay for Life, Mother’s of Preschoolers and more.

“The inspiring aspect of this event is the collaborative nature of it. Boys & Girls Club is in essence the host of an opportunity for other local nonprofits to raise money and create additional awareness for their organizations,” said Chairperson Melanie Barker. “We are so fortunate to live in a community that cares, and we look forward to a fruitful result for all the nonprofits that are participating. If you haven’t been to this event, you are truly missing out. It is so much fun and simply magical.”

Doors open for the silent auction, raffle, hors d’oeuvres and complimentary champagne at 3 p.m. Bidding for the Live Auction begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person or four for $100 (advance purchase only), and can also be purchased at the event, or on their website at www.Facebook.com/TreeAuction
