Children's Museum Hosts Easter Egg Hunt And BBQ

OAKHURST – The Children’s Museum of the Sierra will be helping families welcome the traditional spring time holiday with an Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ on Saturday, Mar. 30 at the Oakhurst Community Park.

“We heard that there wasn’t going to be a hunt this year and heard from some parents that they were disappointed,” said Steve Montalto, director of the museum. “We decided we could take up the event.”Starting at 10 a.m., there will be Easter Egg hunts for kids in different age groups. Kids ages 2-3 will have one area, kids 4-5 in another, while kids 6-8 will be in a third area.

“Each group will have eggs in a different part of the park to ensure each kid gets as many eggs as possible,” said Jarrod Lyman, president of the museum’s board of directors.

There will also be a celebrity appearance of sorts at the event.

After the hunt, the Sierra Lions Club will have hamburgers and hotdogs freshly grilled for a nice outdoor lunch for the kids and their families.

“The idea is to create a nice, family friendly event that will allow everyone to go out and have some fun as a family while also interacting with our other local families,” Lyman said.

The cost will be $2 for the Easter Egg hunt for the first child of a family and $1 for every child after that. Lunch will be $5 for a hamburger or hotdog with chips and a drink.
