Challenger Baseball 2016Submitted by Lisa Sesto

MOUNTAIN AREA — Are you looking for a way to be a part of “America’s favorite pastime?” Wondering if there’s a special league in your area designed for kids with special needs? We are happy to say yes, there is! About two years ago, Little League’s CA District 10 launched its first ever Challenger Division. Sierra Mountain Little League, as part of Little League’s CA District 10, is excited to offer Challenger again this year, as it’s been an amazing time had by all involved. We want to reach kids and parents to participate!

Come experience the great sport of baseball in a program specifically designed to fully engage girls and boys with special needs ages 4 to 22 (if still attending high school). We understand that “special needs” encompass a large array of conditions including ADHD, social anxiety, physical limitations, mental challenges, and more. No one is excluded from Challenger Division. Join us, where everyone understands and will work with you and your child to experience something fun.

We would like to extend an invitation to you for the 2016 Little League season, which is here now. This will be our third year!

Opening Day/Game Day for Challenger ball is Sunday, March 13. If we have enough players for two teams we will be playing in Oakhurst. Otherwise, games will be once a week in Fresno, next to Kaiser Hospital, as well as on the weekend and with practice once a week in Oakhurst. We currently have nine players (some new and some returning) and would love to make this program grow. It’s a no-pressure, fun time for all.

We have trained coaches and special buddies ready to help any player, and a District board that will help you every step of the way. For more info on the Sierra Mountain Little League Challenger Division, please contact: Lisa Sesto via email at LisaNadine1959@yahoo.com or by phone (559) 760-6070 or visit our website http://www.sierramountainll.org and sign up online.

Registration is only $25 and includes a team shirt and hat. Let’s play ball!
