Celebrity Bartending Benefits Basketball

OAKHURST – With schools in need of community support, parents have gotten creative with money-raising. That’s the story behind a Celebrity Bartender’s Fundraiser dubbed “Shoot Like a Girl,” starting at 6 p.m. this Saturday, Mar. 29. This particular madness takes place at Roman’s Bar upstairs at Crab Cakes Family Seafood Restaurant. The event features two basketball moms and one actual bartender.

What could possibly go wrong?

You’ll have to stop by to find out. The celebrities, in this case, are local Coarsegold and Bass Lake residents, respectively, Ursa Major Stearns and Kelly Fine. They’ll be “serving up some shots” in Roman’s Bar on Saturday night, all to benefit the Yosemite Basketball Association (YBA).

A portion of all the night’s profits and tips will be donated to the YBA at Yosemite High.

celebrity bartending 2Ursa and Kelly, whose daughters Allie and Jessica are on the YHS Girls Basketball team, invite supporters to bring lots of friends and order delicious food and festive drinks. They promise some “awesome” action behind the bar, and will be “backed up” by the “real” bartender at Roman’s, Shane Marrone.

Games featuring prizes and drink discounts will be offered throughout the night.

On the event’s Facebook page, the two moms have been busy noting the similarities between basketball and recreational drinking. While they caution all guests to drink responsibly, they’ve noted parallels from shots and shooting to the inevitable foul and dribbling which may occur, should the aforementioned shots and shooting continue too long.

Proceed with caution and stop by Saturday night to support one of the local schools’ great athletic teams, and have some fun while doing so.
