OAKHURST – Madera County Sheriff’s office is reporting that a popular Oakhurst thrift store that donates its proceeds to support animals, was found vandalized, with nearly $1,000 worth of donated Christmas items discovered missing or destroyed.
When the owner of A Cause 4 Paws located on Highway 41 arrived at her thrift store yesterday, she found the property had been broken into and a storage shed titled, “The Christmas Room,” ransacked.
She also discovered several ornaments missing, with others broken on the floor.
A small amount of cash inside the shop’s donation box was taken, a Christmas tree was swiped, and a multitude of holiday decorations were gone.
The estimated value of the stolen goods from both inside the shop’s sheds and outside on the property, is reported to be over $900.
