Victim Of Fatal Crash Identified

MADERA COUNTY – The woman who died in a head-on collision on Highway 145 on Thursday has been identified as 61-year-old Charlotte Louis Boatright of Coarsegold. Boatright was eastbound on Highway 145 from Highway 41 in a 2009 Chevrolet at approximately 40 mph, according to CHP, when for unknown reasons, she veered into the path of a westbound tour bus.

OAKHURST – The Oakhurst Area of the California Highway Patrol will be conducting a DUI/Driver License Checkpoint on Friday, June 27, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., somewhere within Madera County. In addition, specially assigned officers will patrol the surrounding area searching for DUI drivers.

MADERA COUNTY – Christina Romero, who disappeared Sunday, June 22, after her release from a hospital early that morning has been found, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office. The 43-year-old Oakhurst resident was located Monday night by officers with the Madera Police Department near Gateway and 1st Street.

Mountain Area Man Tied To Major Drug Trafficking Operation

MADERA COUNTY – A two year-long investigation, led by the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team (MADNET), has dealt a local blow to what is reportedly a multi-state drug trafficking ring. Lawrence Alexander Tidwell, 31, a mountain area resident who is a convicted felon, is accused of cultivation of marijuana, possessing marijuana for distribution, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Love Triangle Fight Lands Man Behind Bars

MADERA COUNTY – An Oxnard man found himself in jail after challenging a Coarsegold resident to a fight, then showing up for the confrontation with a knife and stabbing the other combatant, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Lance Sinklier, Jr, 19, is charged with attempted murder for reportedly stabbing an unidentified Coarsegold man during a fight over a girl.

OAKHURST – A single vehicle accident blocked Road 426 for about 45 minutes this evening, sending drivers on a detour around Yosemite High. At about 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, Elfie Slayton, of Oakhurst, was westbound on Road 426 at Hangtree Lane, when she apparently dozed off and lost control of her 1998 Lexus LS.
