Car Crash Knocks Out Power South Of Oakhurst

OAKHURST  – Crews are on scene of a motor vehicle accident on Road 425B that knocked out power to over 500 customers and started a vegetation fire.

Just after 6:30 p.m. a grey sedan hit a power pole near Stillmeadow Drive near the top of Road 425B.

Fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and a fire of about one-quarter acre was reported. By 6:50 p.m., the forward spread of the fire was stopped, and all resources not already on scene were called off, except two engines.

CHP reports Road 425B closed at the location of the downed power line.

According to PG&E website (see map below) over 500 homes have been knocked offline, and one resident reported that a PG&E phone call said it could be out for an extended period of time. The latest update is 2 a.m. tomorrow.
