Caltrans Suspends Work On Highway 41 At Rocky Cut

MADERA COUNTY — As of today, Thursday, May 4, Caltrans has suspended work on Highway 41 north of Road 208 near the area known as the Rocky Cut.

According to Caltrans spokesman Cory Burkarth, “heavy traffic volume during the day and the nature of the work doesn’t allow for the ability to quickly move traffic through the work zone.”

Burkarth noted that some people were experiencing waits of up to 45 minutes.

No timeline has yet been given for work to resume through the area.

“We may ultimately do night work, but we’re looking at a variety of options right now,” says Burkarth.

We will update as new information comes in from Caltrans.
