MADERA COUNTY — Motorist have likely seen Caltrans crews out along Highway 41, most recently near Lucky Lane in Coarsegold, and may have experienced short delays due to the repair work.

Recent storms have caused potholes to open up in the roadway, and crews are out working to do temporary repairs.

According to Gloria Rodriguez, Public Information Officer for Caltrans District 6, they will continue to make repairs potholes until permanent repairs and an overlay can be done on the affected sections of roadway.

“Over a two-week period from Dec. 21, crews have gone through over fifty 40-pound bags of mix, and used 15 more bags just yesterday,” says Rodriguez.

Caltrans will continue to monitor and repair damaged areas, and when the weather allows, they will have a contractor make final repairs and do an overlay of the roadway.

In the meantime, motorists are advised to be aware of changing conditions to the road surface as heavy rains can cause things to change quickly. Also, please allow for plenty of space and reduce your speed when passing by crews working in and along the road.
