Brownies To Read For Kindergartners

OAKHURST – The girls from local Brownie Troop 3041 invite area kindergarten-age kids to join them for two fun afternoon story times, each with a light snack and activity included.

The free story time events take place at Branches Books, from 3 – 4 p.m., on consecutive Mondays: Mar. 31 and Apr. 7.

The Brownies in Troop 3041 are offering the “Reading Buddies” time as they work toward receiving their “Tell a Story” badges.

On Monday, Mar. 31, members of the group will treat guests to a reading of the book “Scaredy Squirrel,” along with a little snack and short, engaging activity. The activity will reflect themes from the story, including the ideas of “believing in you, making friends, being patient, being brave,” and – kindergartners’ favorite concept – sharing.

Seating is limited, so organizers request that people who plan to come give Branches Books a call to reserve your spot.

On Monday, Apr. 7, from 3 – 4 p.m., the Brownies of 3041 will read “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” and again offer area kindergartners a wee snack and fun activity. The activity will also cover the same age-appropriate themes of believing in you, friendship, patience, bravery and sharing.
