Big Turnout For District 2 Art Show

Mariposa County Arts Show A SmashSubmitted by the Mariposa County Arts Council

MARIPOSA – The Mariposa County Arts Council announced the success of the 3rd Annual District 2 Art Show recently, featuring the work of artists and craftsmen/craftswomen living in Greeley Hill, Coulterville, Don Pedro, and the surrounding areas, at the home of Merlin and Mimi Jones in Greeley Hill.

Local artists and craftsmen and women participated in the event, which was attended by approximately 200 guests. Among the highlights from the show were demonstrations provided by participating artists. Jan DeShera wove handspun wool on her loom and a performance by the local band Gerry and the Atrics entertained guests and artists alike. Refreshments and drinks were provided by the Jones family and local community members.

“We are immensely grateful to Merlin and Mimi Jones for opening their home and providing a gorgeous venue for the artists of District 2 to share their beautiful work,” shared Mariposa County Arts Council’s Executive Director, Cara Goger. “There are many talented artists living in this region and we are so happy to be able to showcase their work in their local community. The Mariposa County Arts Council is very happy to have the opportunity to connect with people in this area of the County.”

The Mariposa County Arts Council, Inc.  is an incorporated not-for-profit organization created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts for all ages throughout Mariposa County, and is funded in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
