Avian Fine Art Exhibit Benefits Local Nonprofits

It Was Worth It by Tim McMeans

OAKHURST — The public is invited to enjoy a special winter exhibit — Avian: Birds in a Changing World — presented by Sierra Art Trails, Yosemite Area Audubon, and Visit Yosemite Madera County.

Avian is a natural blend of the missions of two California non-profit organizations based in the Sierra Foothills surrounding Yosemite National Park, and is a fundraising exhibit benefiting both organizations.

The artwork includes painting, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, printmaking and photography, portraying beautiful depictions of birds, and works inspired by bird anatomy, migration, habitat, feeding, mortality, and nesting.

The reception is open to the public, and offers live music by Warren Cox, a special appearance of Sammy the Owl — yes, a real live owl! — good food, good company, and great art. $2,000 in cash awards will be announced at the reception.
