MARIPOSA – The Mariposa Theatre Alliance, a program of the Mariposa County Arts Council, is holding auditions for their upcoming production of Arsenic and Old Lace, on July 18, 19, and 20, at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Park Amphitheater, onstage.
Rehearsals will start Sept. 6, and performances will be Oct. 7, 8, 14, 15, 16. They are casting for three women and eleven men.
Several of the parts are smaller and well-suited to beginning actors who will have the advantage of learning from professionals. Mariposa Theatre Alliance is also seeking technicians and set builders. The two-story Victorian set will be built in August so if you like construction, you will be most welcome!
THE STORY: This black comedy revolves around Mortimer and his crazy family – two quirky spinster aunts and his two brothers: one who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt and one who is criminally insane. Mortimer, who is a drama critic in love with the reverend’s daughter, must deal with his maniacal family and decide whether to go through with his plans to marry the woman he loves.
