Arrest For Attempted Murder Of Raymond Man

MADERA COUNTY – Sheriff John Anderson announced this afternoon the arrest of an Eastern Madera County woman wanted for a shooting in Raymond.

Rachel Diane Silva, 29, wanted since Apr. 6 for assault with a firearm, was captured by sheriff’s deputies this afternoon at Hensley Lake.On Apr. 6, deputies responded to a home on Road 810 in Raymond shortly after 10 p.m. An apparent argument between Silva and a male friend ended when the suspect withdrew a gun and shot at the victim as he tried to run back inside his home, according to Madera County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Erica Stuart.

The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived.

A six-day search for the alleged shooter ended around noon on Friday, Apr. 12, when deputies received a tip that the suspect’s vehicle was found near Hensley Lake.

Silva was taken into custody without incident and booked into Madera County Department of Corrections on suspicion of attempted murder. Her bail set at $1 million.

The 51-year-old victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the derrière, is recovering from his injury.
