Apply Now To Be In Mountain Heritage Days Parade

Written by Sandy Brinley —

OAKHURST — Sierra Historic Sites Association will be celebrating the 20th year of Mountain Heritage Days at Fresno Flats Village and Park on School Road in Oakhurst. The event will run from Friday, Sept. 16 through Sunday Sept. 18. Along with vendors, great food, music, raffle, and many other events, the annual parade will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. This year’s theme, “Saving the Past for the Future,” helps guide the entries to celebrate our history.

As in past years, the parade will travel down School Road 427 to Road 426, ending at Golden Oak Drive. Announcer stands will be at Fresno Flats, the corner of School Road and 426, and in front of the Sierra Star, where parade judges will also be located. Viewing of the parade will be available along either road.

Entries may include classic cars, scout troops, community organizations, bands, floats, horse groups, clowns and marching groups and more. Trophies and ribbons will be presented to the first, second and third place winners in each category, along with a Best of Show trophy. In addition, there will be a special plaque awarded to the best Commercial Float entered.

Entry forms are available online at fresnoflatsmuseum.org. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 11.

Sandy Brinley is the Parade Chair and can be reached by calling (559) 683-7027.
