OAKHURST — A Coarsegold man was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI this afternoon after rolling his 2003 Toyota Tacoma on the 25 mph corner near the Llama Ranch east of Oakhurst.
At 5:15 p.m., Russell Tevis was westbound on Road 426 coming through the very sharp curve about a mile below Bass Lake Heights at a stated speed of 45 mph, when he lost control of his vehicle and rolled it, coming to rest on the driver’s side in the westbound lane.
The driver was able to extricate himself from the wrecked truck, and suffered only minor bumps and bruises, including an abrasion to his left shoulder.
The driver was determined by CHP at the scene to be under the influence and was taken into custody.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which remains under investigation.
Madera County Fire and Cal Fire responded to assist.
Road 426 was reduced to one-lane traffic for about an hour as the officers investigated and the scene was cleared.
