OAKHURST — Once again, firefighters were called out to reports of a fire burning along the roadway on Highway 41 south of Oakhurst on Deadwood.
Just after 9:30 a.m., crews responded to a vegetation fire near reported near 425B.
Engines from Cal Fire, Madera County Fire and Sierra National Forest responded.
The first unit at scene, which was a CHP officer, reported the fire as a 20×20 foot spot with a slow rate of spread. Once fire engines arrived at scene and the incident commander was able to assess the situation, units not already at scene were cancelled.
There was fire equipment in the northbound lanes for about 40 minutes, but as of 10:08 a.m., resources had been released from the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is the third time in a week that crews have responded to fires along Highway 41 on Deadwood.
