All Evacuation Warnings Officially Lifted For North Fork

MADERA COUNTY — The Madera Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services is happy to announce that all evacuation warnings for Madera County related to the recent flood activity are officially lifted.

North Fork residents were advised to be prepared to evacuate on Sunday evening, Jan. 8, and in the early hours of Monday morning, a mandatory evacuation order was sent out for those living along the east side of Church Street, and residents in the Bass Lake Mobile Home Park as heavy rains caused rising water levels in Willow Creek.

The order was lifted on Thursday, Jan. 12, at about 4:30 p.m., but evacuation warnings still remained in place. Those have now been lifted.

The situation also prompted the temporary closure of the Sierra National Forest Bass Lake Ranger District office in North Fork. They now plan to resume normal operations Tuesday, Jan. 17, following the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16.
