Adventist Health Welcomes New Dentist

OAKHURST – The Adventist Health Medical Office is now offering preventive dental services two days a week with the addition of Randall E. Prewitt, DDS, to its team. Services include X-rays, cleanings, fillings, exams, dentures and extractions.

Dr. Prewitt has been a practicing dentist for more than 30 years and currently maintains a private practice in Sanger.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Walla Walla University in Washington, then earned his dental degree from the Loma Linda School of Dentistry.

Dr. Prewitt was born in Walla Walla, but traveled a bit as an Army brat. His uncle was a dentist, but he initially considered a career as a mortician. That is, until he met his wife, whose father was also a dentist. Now, one of his sons has also become a dentist, working alongside him in his practice.

Prewitt donates his time and skills to the California Dental Association Care Clinics, providing free dental services to residents in underserved areas in cities across the state.

In addition to his skills as a dentist, he is also an accomplished carpenter, having built his own 4,000-square-foot log home in Idaho. Not only that, he did the plumbing and electrical himself as well.

He has always enjoyed living in foothill communities for the peace and seclusion they provide, as well as the independence required. He also enjoys golf, hiking, teaching Bible studies at his church and traveling with his family.

His five grown children, two daughters and three sons, range in age from 24 to 36. Dr. Prewitt and his wife, Heidi, have been married for 42 years.

“Idaho is close to the Canadian border, and it was a very snowy place,” he says. “I got tired of pushing snow and said my next place was going to be someplace warm.” He now lives in the foothills near Oakhurst.

The clinic offers same-day appointments and welcomes patients with Medi-Cal, Medicare and most insurance plans. Dr. Prewitt is available to see patients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Oakhurst Medical Office, located at 48677 Victoria Lane, and may be reached at (559) 683-2711.

Adventist Health services in the Central Valley are part of Adventist Health, a faith-based, nonprofit integrated health system serving more than 75 communities on the West Coast and Hawaii.
