OAKHURST – The Red Cross needs volunteer players for acting roles during their Shelter Boot Camp Exercise on Saturday, Apr. 21.
They are in search of thirty-five volunteers of all ages – singles, couples, families, young and old, with/without disabilities, etc.
Volunteers will play the part of people who are having to evacuate to a shelter due to a wildland fire. You will be given a scenario to play out in many different forms – some will have a disability, some will have pets, some children, etc.
You won’t be needed for the whole day, just for a couple hours, and they will even feed you! Not only will you be playing a vital role in this training, you will learn things that you’ll need to know should your family be forced to evacuate.
Schedule for the day:
- 10:30 a.m. – Exercise briefing at the amphitheater at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, 39696 Highway 41 in Oakhurst (see map below).
- 11:30 a.m. – Exercise starts; lunch is included and will be a part of the exercise.
- 2:00 p.m. – Exercise will conclude.
If you are interested in being a part of this organized chaos day of fun, please contact Katrina Poitras Disaster Program Manager at 559‐515‐3974 or email her at Katrina.Poitras@redcross.org and put in the subject line “Boot Camp Player.”
The Red Cross thanks you for joining the fun, and is looking forward to partnering with you on this exercise!
