OAKHURST – This Friday, Dec. 6, is the 20th Annual Free Dentistry Day in Oakhurst.
A team of professionals are coming together to see patients who do not have dental insurance and cannot afford to see a dentist, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The practice of Dr. Rodney Peter and Dr. Dennis Jones is located at 49255 Golden Oak Loop.
Together on Friday the resident doctors, in cooperation with Dr. Bob Brosi, Dr. Ryan Franklin, Dr. Barbara Kelly and Dr. Anna Marie Grady, will volunteer free dental treatment for adults and children who otherwise would go without. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dr. Jones started the tradition 20 years ago and Dr. Peter joined in this service 12 years ago. This year the office plans to see more patients than in previous years, as the office has more treatment rooms and more doctors will be providing care.
Adults and children can be seen for a one-appointment procedure such as a filling, treatment of a toothache or an extraction. Cleanings will be done only on children under the age of 14. Crowns, bridges or partials will not be available on free dental day, though the lab will do minor repairs on dentures and partials.
All the doctors and staff involved in Free Dentistry Day in Oakhurst “feel very fortunate to be part of the mountain community,” and choose this way to thank the community for the support.
